THE SHACKS SMILE NOW, CRY LATER

The Shacks are a trio of early-20s New Yorkers (singer-bassist Shannon Wise, guitarist-producer Max Shrager and drummer Ben Borchers). Mixing the sweet soul of 50's and 60's American artists like Flamingos and a slightly edgier The Velvet Underground, The Shacks' sound is as pleasant as the smell of honey suckle at dusk. Following on from their 2018 album Haze, they share their new single 'Smile Now, Cry Later', a cover originally by fellow Big Crown signees Sunny & The Sunliners which first hit back in 1966. Shannon's soft vocals whisper "smile for my friends and cry later", accompanied by stacked doo-wop style harmonies over a mellow jazzy soundscape. Perfect for lazing the day away. -Ellie Rose-Davies
